Undergraduate students in a Forensic Chemistry Lab demonstrate how to screen a urine sample for drugs of abuse (or their metabolites). The students employ the ToxiLab system, which performs a thin-layer chromatography separation of the drugs and metabolites prior to chemical development, which gives specific colors for different drugs.
