Please read this or nothing will make sense,
at the turn of the new year unlike normal when i'm eager to begin afresh, this year I was hesitant, the thought leaving so many things behind was tough for me, losing Myra six months ago, leaving parts of me in 2011 that never got the chance to make it through. This feeling was in turn, not helped by the departure from this cruel world of Billy, the horse who i've looked after for the past four years.
The song, which I've adored from the age of 7, has always come to mind when I think about him, i don't know why, its just so 'him'. But in contrast to the song, life is no Disney movie. As much as we kid ourselves, when something leaves this life, it leaves forever. When I stood by the gate and absent mindidly called his name, he didn't come cantering over the brow of the hill and into my arms, and that really tore my heart out. It wasn't his time to leave. It wasn't right, and it wasn't fair. From the bottom of my heart I wish I'd done more to save him, but it's too late now.
But through all the pain, the tears, the heartache and misery, there's a figure, a dark, small and somewhat hairy figure. A shoulder to lean on and a rather unruly mane to cry into. Honest to god, I don't know where I'd be without this pony, in fact, I question if I'd even be here at all. I find it hard to express how much she means to me, she's a part of me apart from me. Even in the darkest of times, on the darkest of days, when the thought of even breaking into a smile is miles from home, a deep nicker and a friendly face coming toward you... need I say more? Before you realise it you're grinning from ear to ear. Few people have the ability to make someone truly happy, but this plucky little pony really does.
The cross country jumps were from today, she thrives off of it and really does jump her little woolly heart out, whilst adding several rather large bucks in with it, which I wish we'd caught on film, she truly is young at heart!
I hope everyone is well and the sooner the bulbs start coming through and the blossom starts to grow the better, roll on the spring!

  • LOVE everything about it! xx

  • Gorgeous, gorgeous. I love it all but especially 1:30 onwards...and this song is one of my all time favourites. I've loved it for years and it never fails to make me feel better. Fancy adding a Disney marathon to our list of things to do together when we're best friends? ;) ;p You both look wonderful!

  • @katieebabess10 Thank you so much, i'm glad it was noticable as I poured my little heart into making it as I sobbed away! It really is an amazing gift that animals have, if only people could take the time more often, to sit back and notice how others were feeling! xx
