There's something about doug that just makes it right for him to be with the muppets. Must be the hair.

Around 1990, Doug stepped out of the world of magic performances. This is probably because of competition with Copperfield, and possibly for other reasons as well.
He then began speaking for the Natural Law Party, and seemed to study these unusual spiritual ideas related to the party. He attempted to help the Natural Law Party in Canadian politics. On February 7, 2000, he died of liver cancer.

He went on to become a politician in Canada and died. Poor guy.
