Just a quick video of my car breaking at the track. Launched at 5k, and the track prep was great. Too great. Just another good excuse to upgrade! My car ran 12.02 with a lot of wheel hop,, and a positive DA at Sealy 1 week before this. Just LT headers and CAI.

The weak rear end let go on the first pass. I am now installing an RPM built rear end. Hoping for 11.50's at 383rwhp, then comes an England Green cam.

HRP preps their track well, I was hoping for 11.70's, but the weak rear end of the c5 is not set up for drag racing with drag radials.

  • hey winters, this is JB from stangnet, sorry for the breakage. which exact dr/size did this happen on? on my '02, i really like that ccw drag pack (et street rear, skinny front). the mt's had plenty of sidewall, i use to launch from 6200 and pull 1.51 60fts (car made 405rwhp, 3.90 geared). somehow that rear never failed, but i think the soft sidewall doesn't "jolt" the system like a low profile dr seems to do

  • Hey Jeff!

My car now has the 3.90 RPM rear end. I was running the 305/35/18MT drag radial. I am going to go with the CCW drag pack and ET street tires, like what you used to run. I have a spec 3 clutch, so I basically have to dump it, it does not slip. I tried to figure out how to get Weld wheels on the car, but only the XP's work for a c5 and they have not been made in 5 years, so nobody has them. No other brand makes drag wheels to fit the c5, so I have to go with the expensive ccw-Mark

  • I clicked on remove, instead of reply on your last thread. Yeah, I am hoping for 1.5's in the 60ft. Also, did you run the 16 inch or 17 inch CCW's. I heard you have to grind the calipers in the rear with 16's.

Anyways, give me a shout here or at Stangnet when you are in town, and want to head out to the track.

  • Exact same thing i did to my balck H/C Z06 2 days ago. I broke my rpm level 5 rear though :(

  • Nick, RPM only goes up to level 3 rear end. Are you talking about their transmissions?

  • Thanks man! How's the 4v vert these days?

I just got word that the Weld drag XP's are going to start in to production for the c5-c6 cars this spring. I already have 2 sets of wheels and tires, and don't want to spend to much more on the 3rd set, which would be the CCW's. How is that bullitt? It stil holds the record as the fastest stock bullitt. Let me know when you are in town and we can patch up at the the track.

  • Makes sense, Hopefully the Dual Friction I have will last me a while with the cost of replacement in the Vette. Are you still running the stock 3.42's

  • @mawk27 Yeah, it was a level 3. I just mispoke cuz I also got the rpm level 5 tranny. Looks like it stripped the gears.

  • Car needed a new clutch. I race a lot, I new the rear end was going to have be replaced, and I am not sure whether I wanted to end up at 500hp or 700hp. This clutch should handle either.

There is not point in putting in a clutch at my power level(430-440hp) that is just going to let go after 50-60 passes.

  • Why did you put such a serious clutch in for so little HP? No sarchasm here just an inquirie, I see you on the forum so we are good I am just curious. I am running a Centerforce Dual Friction. Every once in a while when I take off regular I get a clutch whine, any ideas what that is? I drive a 2000 FRC the clutch has about 3000 miles on her.
