This video was taken on the January 28, 2009. It is a solitary flamingo that has flown along to a pond near the coastal road in front of the Peñon de los Amadores in Camuy, Puerto Rico. This is a strange site in this area.
These birds usually find there habitat in Florida, Santo Domingo, Chile and other places, but not in PR.
The pink color is due to its diet, which is high in alpha and beta-carotene.
Nobody knows how much time will it be there, but apparently it is healthy and not injured. Maybe it got lost, but they usually don't migrate.
