Just got this in the mail yesterday, but the weather has been dreary/overcast. Was able to get a few seconds of sunlight in this clip.

Video quality is similar to the older camera I tested a while back, fairly poor but I guess all you can expect for the $35-50 they go for on ebay. It claims to have 720P video quality, however it's cheating, they just resize the 720x480 (aka 480P) video to make it 720P. Not the same quality, at all. Night quality is horrid. If there are no street lights, you can't see anything, and you can't see anything around oncoming headlights. I'll post a night sample soon.

The audio quality is ok, but my Jeep is very very loud and when I edited this clip the audio was messed up with the Windows Movie Maker. I'll try getting a better clip while driving my other car.

This has a wideangle lens, the specs say 120 degrees. While I like being able to see more to the sides, I'd rather a narrower lens to get more detail from things further away. Plus, it shows a lot of the hood and sky that's basically wasted space on the video.

It has 6 infrared LEDs on the front of the camera to assist with night videos, but it's of no use for in-car videos. I tested it indoors and it does work, was able to see in a pitch-black room. So, it might be cool if you hooked it up to a tripod and wanted to hunt for ghosts. ;)

It has a flip-down LCD panel that lets you see what's being recorded to adjust the aim, and change a couple recording options. You can also playback existing clips, which is a nice feature if you don't have a laptop handy and need to show a cop that you actually stopped at that stop sign. ;)

It uses SD cards for storage, I'm using a 16GB card. It records in 2, 5 or 15 minute clips with about a second gap between clips. I haven't filled up the card yet but with previous cameras there will be a longer gap when it has to delete the oldest file to make space. I'll update the post then.

  • How much was it? and where did you get it..

  • @Wtfrucrazy $30-70 on ebay depending on who you buy it from. typically costs a little less from overseas sellers. I bought mine from a seller here in the US. even though the quality isn't the greatest, that $40 could help out a lot during an accident.
