Fox Sports TV announcer Joe Buck expressed relief Friday that he didn't flub his father Jack Buck's signature "see you tomorrow night" line Thursday night, when Cardinal David Freese's game-ending home run in Game 6 of the World Series unfolded 20 years later under nearly identical circumstances to Kirby Puckett's heroics in the 1991 World Series, also ending Game 6 ! ! !

  • Say what you want (and he's not my favorite either) but Joe Buck is pretty damn cute.

  • @minnbeef

Cute? I always thought he looked a Marine jarhead or maybe an aryan youth. Not a good tv face.

  • thats spooky, both winning in extra innings at the bottom of the 11th to take it to Game 6

  • @sunnymarky

At first, I thought so too. Then I realized little Joe had a brain fart and couldn't think of anything original to say.

  • On Oct. 27, 2011, the righthanded-hitting Freese hit his winning solo homer for St. Louis to lead off the bottom of the 11th inning of Game 6, forcing a Game 7.

On Oct. 26, 1991, the righthanded-hitting Puckett hit his winning solo homer for the Twins leading off the bottom of the 11th inning of Game 6, forcing a Game 7.

  • And the national television audience for each heart-thumping moment heard nearly the identical home run call. The first from Jack Buck: "And we'll see you tomorrow night."

Thursday's call came from Joe: "We will see you tomorrow night."

Tim McCarver was the announcing partner in each instance

  • I wished I had stayed up to watch the Friese homerun but I had to be to work the next day. But I was there in 91 for Kirby's homerun. Two great Mississippi River cities now own two of the most dramatic moments in World Series history. How cool is that???

  • @minnbeef it looks really gay

  • I just think in this pic at the end, he looks pretty dang cute.
