This version of "Snake Rag" was recorded at The Harp Hotel, Albrighton, Shropshire, England on Sunday, Aug. 19th. 2007 by the Antique Six Jazz Band.
Another exciting and entertaining session from a great band with Chris Mercer on trumpet, Chris Pearce on clarinet/saxes, Richard Leach on trombone, Graham Smith on drums, Clinton Sedgley on banjo/guitar and Andy Robins on bass.

Sessions at the Harp are held every Sunday lunchtime and Tuesday evening. Details from John or Marie Howell on 01902 756158

  • I don't understand the snobbishness in other comments posted here. This is a fun tune well played! If Louis Armstrong was alive and standing in the room with these fellas, my guess is he would have laughed and enjoyed the hell out of this version. Pops was also fond of strong laxatives. Another aspect critics might care to emulate?

  • Best version:

Louis Armstrong, but haven't see it on a live recording.

  • I don't know... I have not find a live version of this tuen that I like... This one in particular is kinda chaotic.. I mean, even in the King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band the instruments werer well organized. Of course, the solos were way better.

Good effort but you haven't captured the vibe of the song.
