I totally understand why the chinese are resentful at the Western Countries. It's because of bia broadcasting on Tibet and the torch incident in Paris.

But, as what I think, BOYCOTT carreford is not a good solution to the problem. Remember most of products there are from China, and most of their staffs are chinese too.

macroeconomics shows that boycotting Carrefour will not hurt Chinese economy. This is because the total consumption is fixed. While people boycott Carrefour, they will buy more from other supermarkets. As a result, Carrefour employs less workers and other supermarkets employ more. The total level of employment is constant.

this is because 3 conditions are met:

1. There are perfect substitutes to Carrefour

2. Expansion cost for other supermarkets are low

3. Barrier of entry for new comers is low.

1 - You can't compare the EU with the USA - Candian relation, it's absurd.

2 - Without EU, we could have more tensions. Just try to think ten seconds before telling that, what were the German / French relations before the EU ...? Who's chill ?

3 - About Tibet, do you think that all the European governments were chill ? Cause they were all clearly opposed to the Chinese action but paralyzed by their businesses.

Let the Chinese government hates what we do. 90% of EU countries think like France, we just defend our philosophy and show that we continue to exist when we have the opportunity to do it at home. We are not afraid by China.

Chinese people isn't stupid and we aren't obsessed to make noises, we don't hate them, they don't hate us, this is in our cultures. Don't look too much what the propagandas show.. things are not so simple.
