Marlboro College Graduate School hosted a public lecture by Lisa Lorimer, former CEO of Vermont Bread Company, on Friday, May 14 as part of its MBA in Managing for Sustainability Featured Speaker Series.
Lorimer shared insights from her new book, Dealing with Tough Stuff: Practical Wisdom for Running a Values-Driven Business (Longfellow), which she co-authored with Margo Fraser, the founder of Birkenstock Footprint Sandals, Inc. She shared true stories about pitfalls leaders face when growing a business and how they navigated tough challenges and survived.
Lisa Lorimer is the former CEO, President and majority owner of Vermont Bread Company in Brattleboro, VT (sold in 2005). During her 23-year tenure at her company, Vermont Bread was the largest majority woman-owned business in the state and was listed as one of the top ten fastest growing companies in Vermont. Lisa is a graduate of the Owner President Management Program at Harvard Business School.
Under the guidance of program director Ralph Meima, the Marlboro MBA in Managing for Sustainability is taught in person and online, with students and faculty coming together for three days each month at the downtown Brattleboro, Vermont, campus of the Marlboro College Graduate Center. Over the course of two years, MBA students earn 60 credits in classes, internships and independent research.
