  • can you see the bar ?

i started gaylord 3 days ago but i just throw my arm up in my flip

i touched the mat on the bar today =D

  • haha yea I understand. But I think that's not important, what happens after lots of training is that you can sense where the bar is, like instinct. Even now I don't bother looking for the bar, I only think of the tap and the giants before it, when you learn to do the same giant every time, you will always be the same distance from the bar right? So that's what I'm trying to perfect now.

  • Hey man, I've worked these before but I'm not entirely comfortable with it. How did you get used to spotting the bar? That's the part I seem to be having the most trouble with, the rest of it is just kind of having the stones to bring it in close enough haha. If you've gotta any tips or drills, let me know.

  • Hey, I don't really know what might help, when I started I was useless, if you watch my bloopers video you'll see that I had no clue what I was doing. I guess working on the tap really helped and even then it took weeks to get it to a decent hight. The only thing I can give is to learn a tap that's comfortable for you and be persistent, it's not too difficult to catch but hard to get good height.

  • Mate that was well good!!! Will you compete it this year do you reckon? Your improving really nicely, great talent!

  • Yea I'll put it into my routine this year, but I stuffed up my tap the other day and went head first into the bar, sliced it open. Luckily nothing happened to the neck.

  • I thought Mitch Gaylord did it w/ his legs straight

  • i don't know that much about gymnastics, but is it basically just a reverse kovac? how much harder is it? (i'm guessing it''s harder because it's using a reverse grip) :)

  • HAHAH "GAYLORD"

  • AMAZING!!!

  • wow mikey i guess we end up watching the same videos after all (alex..)

  • maybe when you get a gienger super high, you can do a Gaylord II instead. it is essentially a gienger, but it has a blind catch.
