@EJES2000 Since seats on the London Underground are upholstered, they're a lot less hygienic. A number of stations in the underground are more aesthetically appealing, but many others, like Queensway, aren't anything special. Also, I'm quite sure that relentlessly doesn't mean what you think it does, perhaps you meant reluctantly.

To all those who talk about older subway systems or more modern subway systems, you miss the point. NYC is the only city in the U.S. where people can get around at all hours without a car. I'm not sure that the statistic they site of 75% of New Yorker not having cars is true, that might only be in Manhattan. Still, a whole heckeva lot of people don't own cars here, and don't feel they are missing anything. It's amazing how many adults here don't even know how to drive. That's says a lot about h

london underground is old, and by the looks of things, more hygienic and more appealing... i happily take the underground in london, whereas i would relentlessly take the new york subway...

Unlike London, New york has so many good memories so many historical movie events known throughout the world so many classic characteristics so many good qualities back then as well.
Fun fact: Boston's subway system is 7 years older than New York's. It opened in 1897.
