@Fidelio0690 The boats are fine, it's just the luck of the draw.
Sanya drove into a container (like Massa v.s suspension spring). Adhu Dhabi dropped of a 30ft wave (crashed into the wall) and on Puma I reckon something popped (they seem to be keeping what happened a bit secret at the moment).
These are 3rd generation boats so they're pretty bomb proof as boats go - at least the keels are staying on!

Esses mastros estão muito fracos!
A regata e dura, mas tem muita gente que queria estar lá

@Fidelio0690 Who made these masts? They should let someone who knows how make new masts for all and let them all start anew in Cape Town - please forward to Mr Frostad

@starchaser28 Thank you for the info, have been missing this
-
@AxDCjr obviously no one would pick up a hand camera to get it, but there should be footage from the fixed cameras
-
@AxDCjr not exactly, only one or two cameras are actually used for handheld recording. Most of them are fixed at various points on the bow, stern, mast etc. You see footage from the stern cameras all the time, that's why I think it's odd that there's no video.

@5FishBoy5 what 'bout that when u suffer such as that problem u quite have no time to film it?!!!!...
-
@5FishBoy5 But with all those cameras running at the same time, you dont think They'ld need bateries for them? Batteries are heavy and they dont have windmills or engine generators onboard. They reduce the weight becuase of a reason, going fast my friend ;)

3 out of 6 boats retired before the end of the first leg .... looks like Volvo is sacrificing seaworthiness for speed ..... against all principles of good seamanship!
Robin Knox Johnson ... what has happened??
Why no footage of the mast actually breaking? Those boats are covered with cameras.
