i am an atheist to a point ,but not believing in traditional God is much different than believing in a higher consciousness. Not trying to offend , but why should i believe in a religon that was made years and years after hinduism or other religons? Why are those religons wrong and Why am i taboo if i believe in something else or nothing at all?

@thetinys13 It's a good thing higher consciousness doesn't need belief in something, its a knowing. Either you know, or you do not. And knowing something exists and choosing to work with it doesn't make it a religion, any more than it would when someone would believe that a house exists. I don't believe in God either, I know.

@steptocheese Nobody said that having a pineal gland means we are spiritual beings, once you come to the realization that you are, there is no denying it, pineal gland or not. If you haven't realized it yet, that is OK, and doesn't mean that you aren't ;) Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.

If you know you are or you know you aren't, you are precisely correct. The question remains, why limit yourself to matter and material existence? I wish you well on your journey friend.

@mlgxjoey it's not just about the pineal gland. if you TRUELY want to change, research, meditate (or pray) and allow positive energy into your life while letting or getting rid of the bad. When I say pray, I don't want it to come off completely religious but I think everyone should try to make that connection with the source of energy, light, consciousness and being. You really have to actively seek out positive energy while also actively trying to repel the bad energies around you.

@mlgxjoey I understand what you're saying about making an ass yourself to your parents. (been there done that for no reason.) But there is a reason if you're paying attention with your whole mind and body, find out what the main virtues are in life. I'll give you one for now: Patience is one virtue which is misunderstood a lot by people. Calmness is the other virtue that goes great with Patience. If your trying to be nice then you shouldn't try. Just do it. And do it w the virtues too.

@LuxorMedia Honestly I am an atheist but I don't think we are'nt divine beings. Primitive people often think technologically advanced people are divine like in gunenea the cargo cults who worshipped Usa army planes. I don't see why we need to use all the poetry and terms like "divine consciousness" to explain our natural minds. Those types of terms are just confusing and don't do reality much justice. Just say science is knoledge and religion is an explanation for what we want do with science.
