Konrad Kreuzer, chairman of directors of E.ON Hungaria, a subsidary of E.ON Energie AG, the largest privately owned energy supplier in Europe, delivered the lecture, "The Current Direction of Global Energy Markets: How it Will Shape Your Business and How to Manage," as part of Quinnipiac University's School of Business Dean's Distinguished Speaker and Foreign Lecture Series.
Under Kreuzer, who has been chairman of the board since 1997, E.ON Hungaria has become one of Hungary's ten largest companies in terms of revenue and has been the top investor in Hungary since 2006.
Kreuzer was born and raised in Western Germany where he graduated from the University of Munich in law and management. He began his professional career in the Bavarian public administration. Starting in the mid-80s, he worked his way up through Bayernwerk AG, Germany, as head of the public law and law and property departments, then as director of legal affairs and eventually as managing director of EuroBayernwerk GmbH.
When Hungary privatized its energy markets in the mid-90s, Bayernwerk AG acquired several Hungarian electricity and gas suppliers. The merger of Bayernwerk AG and PressenElektra in Germany in 2000 created the new Munich based company, E.ON Energie AG, the largest privately owned energy supplier in Europe.
The E.ON Energy Group provides nearly two and a half million customers with electricity and supplies gas to over half a million customers in 15 countries. In addition, the group operates several state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly power plants in Hungary. The company is also a significant player on the domestic heating market as the heating provider and partner of several cities, towns, and companies.
