  • great review

  • this guy who narrates with his voice has convinced me, with his voice alone, to buy these headphones.

  • Do you have any emotion?

  • Nice 24-105 right there.. gear buff. 5D + another? 24-105?

  • @lions66666 And by way, one tip that I wish someone gave me when I was upgrading from HD558's (which are basically identical to 598's in terms of sound quality) to HD650's. Differences in sound quality are much lesser than you'd expect by just looking at prices. As I said, I have 558's and 650's, and I prefer 558's for gaming and movies, pop, rock, metal, even female vocal music. 650's clearly beat them only in classical and orchestral, they tend to sound "bigger" and fuller.

  • @lions66666 If you want a relaxed, laid back and neutral sound that won't necessarily make you excited, then 650's. They make most music sound boring. HD598's are complete opposite.. They have less bass, but more upper mids and highs, and that makes them sound more alive and engaging. If you mainly listen to classical, orchestral or jazz, get HD650's, since IMHO those are only genres where HD650's sound better than HD598's. For everything else, go for HD598's.

  • @marcellus261 You have to know that in terms of difficulty to run the headphones, ST/STX can provite enough voltage to run almost ANY headphones out there. HD650's need about 2 volts if I'm correct, and ST is able to swing up to 12 volts. Also, you have to know that when you use the RCA output on ST to connect it to the separate amplifier, you lose absolutely all features that card offers, equalizer, surround modes, crossover frequency modes...all you can adjust is Volume.

  • @marcellus261 I wouldn't bother buying a separate amp unless you're going to get something at $500+ range. I have Asus Xonar ST (pci version of STX) as well, and Little Dot Mk5 amplifier, and there's no difference in sound quality or loudness between the two, In fact, I prefer the sound straight from ST.ST has very good components to provide excellent sound quality, much better than amps or DACs that cost as much as the entire card.

  • @nightowl217 Not quite. You want a small desktop amp, or a beefy portable amp to drive these well. The Fiio E9 (desktop) is more suited to the HD650 than the E10. That's not to say it can't improve, but it's a good point to from.

  • I have a Fiio E10, and i was wondering if that will drive these headphones properly. Thanks!
