  • @znfpc i dont know which zimbabwe you went to to, or maybe which part of zimbabwe you went to but i was there for a long time and by 1998 all children had been taking sex education at school integrated with this sti and std business.

  • The situtation has become a little better. I came back from Kenya last year and they welcomed the education on HIV/Aids and asked alot of great questions on how to prevent the spread. U2FootSoldiers is going back in May 2007 to continue the work on projects we began in 2000. you can see some of these projects by viewing "one Man's Journey to Kenya". you are right that there are many elements that add to the overall problem.

  • I didn't want to judge their culture, but so many elements of it and of larger problems, like a terrible economy, made HIV such a huge presence. I would love to know how to help stop it; maybe this generation of orphans will be spared as adults the Zimbabwe they know now as children.

  • 5 yrs ago I worked with HIV+ people in Zimbabwe; I wanted to be there in person & not just send money. But it was discouraging, so much resistance to even using condoms, so much distrust of "Western medicine" and so many people fearful of taking in AIDS orphans. I was a white foreigner who couldn't convince them of anything. I hope the situation is better now.
