@Quemin For one thing, other dancers seem to propel themselves against gravity into the air for leaps. Baryshnikov seems to float by nature and merely deigns to land at the end of the flight, though not really necessary...
He is as at home in the air as on the stage.

It's a combo of things..his looks, his presence on stage...his ability to blend technique with the feel, the emotion...you can tell he really loves what he does...it is his passion...L.

Chopiniana is one of my favourite ballets and golly, does Baryshnikov bring this to life. This is such a stunning pas de deux - My absolutely favourite to perform.

So, I'm just starting to get intrested in Ballet and everyone keeps telling me he is the best, but I want to know why exactly he is. If someone could tell me.

there are a few clip of his albrecht if you can find them, in particular one of him solo from the second act ... i like him not only for his technique but for the nuances in his dancing, his interpretations of the roles, his presence on stage, i just can't take my eyes off him - even in something like les sylphides
