GODWINS LAW - As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one.

@SonofDostojevskij Very good interpretation, first I mentioned it was sung in a German church (I wondered about the fans on the ceiling). And noone would sing this song in a church here...
My deepest respect to this chorus, greetings from Germany.
Forget Hitler...Maybe he was an admirer of Wagner, but I guess, Wagner would not be an admirer of Hitler.

@apt95 it depends on what you consider the defition of murder. the bride, Elsa, asks him to reveal his real name, which he made her promise not to ask because it would mean the end of their relationship, but she asks anyway... at the moment she asks, the antagonist enters with a small group of his buddies and tries to kill Lohengrin. Lohengrin kills them in self defense.

The idiot in the picture is Chuck Darwin and not Hitler. Hitler was simply acting on bad advice and bad information. The big initial step in the picture is the thing about viewing your fellow man as a meat byproduct of random processes, rather than as a fellow child of God.

very impressive piece...
was this really taken from Lohengrin?
If I recall correctly, the song was played after the wedding, but before the groom murdered a bunch of people.
suddenly the Bridal March just became even more awesome.
$5 says it's only a matter of time before we see this remade into a metal song, for better or for worse.

I would say: Enjoy the music, ignore the attitudes. Wagner is long dead, as full of errors he might have been (just like every one uf us). But his music is here to stay, and what a wonderful music of that!
Artists often tend to be more difficult than "normal" persons, because their sensibility is higher. Therefore, they are often like "bipolar disorder" patients, but with a difference! They don't just suffer, they TRANSFORM and TRANSCEND thier suffering to ART. We should focus on their ART.
