@CombatSportFan Well, as they say: "History is written by the victors"...Vince has pretty much wiped out everyone by now, that he can allow certain people to come in on DVD's and say whatever (without having to "filter" their words)...He no longer cares what they say, even if they bash him, since at the end of the day he is the only guy left standing...And not only that, but he actually profits from people paying money to hear people speak bad about him on these DVD's...

Bring Undertaker back he goes in 1 match per year at Wrestlemania and then sits on his arse doing nothing for the next 3 quarters of a year

@CombatSportFan What I don't get is how, in a rigged sport, doing things that are unneeded is considered and evolution of the industry. How do guys beating each other with chairs, going through tables, and getting shoved off a latter make it better? I don't get that one at all.

@McMahonHater What I don't understand is why nobody thought about figuring out ways to improve the entertainment value without resorting to rigging it. Look at the UFC. In 1995 when Shamrock and Gracie had their 40 min lay and pray, the UFC promoters just altered the rules to keep the fight moving they didn't start rigging things.

@CombatSportFan I think some guys would take pay offs from other promotions to try an hurt Thez. I think I remember him talking about that to. However I believe by Thez's time everything was supposed to be planned ahead. With Lewis they had him fix the matches because they were to long, and people wouldn't pay to see the real thing.

@Rayla840 You have a point. However, the one big difference was that in the 80s they actually tried to cover for it but by 1997 "yeah it's all an angle" or "eh it's part of the storyline." Etc. Then again, if they spent one year putting things over as legit again, within two years people would be going "well is it fake or isn't it?" all over again.

@McMahonHater Did the worked shoot aspect last well into the 50s? Like I think I heard Thesz note that even when he was champion part of it was determined by him being able to take care of himself it things got real. I could be mistaken though.
I still cannot believe WWE got an actual wrestling historian to come in and give the background on guys like Lewis, Gotch, Hackenschmidt, and Stecher. Just hearing the term "shoot match" even 13 years after Vince McMahon murdered kayfabe blows me away.
