I've always been told HFA and AS are the same thing anyway. The only diffrence is that with HFA, is there is a speech delay. I was always told I had AS growing up, but I did not speak until I was four, so probably I'm really HFA. I hate the term "Asperger's" because it sounds like "ass burgers", and it's very easy to make fun of. Autism sounds unusual, but you can't really make fun of it without sounding stupid.

@drakegod84 I agree with u 100%. Autism and AS will never go away NEVER! I have AS and I hate it to! People get mixed up with it just because we are autistic doesn't mean that we are stupid! Lots of people that are autistic turn out to be fantastic! Yes, there are some people that are autistc and have a really low IQ which the term mentally retarded comes from!

looks like its still around and its now all over hollywood with various AS characters. i think the label helps more the people around the AS person because without a label they have no starting point and theres quite a bit a difference between AS and autism.

ok, this is why i hate this news... when people say autistic they have conotations of mental retardation.... i hate this, i don't want to be classified with people with mental retardation, it's not fair. the same goes with the people with HFA, im sure they feel the same way. just because i have similarities with these people doesn't mean we're the same. to prove my argument, asperger's syndrome has alot in common with skitzophrenia, but we're not categorize as such. we deserve our own name.

hi denis, my name is terry, i just resently took a test to detect aspergers online. i dont know if it was certified by the APA or not, but it did seem to reflect alot on my pesonality. the test was ranged from 1 to 50, scoring 33 and higher is considered to be in the aspergers range, i scored at 38. i have all or most of the asperger traits, all which varry in degree. predominately is my anxiety, depression, social inabilities, and indipendents. what do you think i should do now?
