  • Hi,

    While this could be used to pull nails; I believe it may have been intended to pull the U-shaped staples used to attach Barbed Wire to wooden fence posts. Those would have been very common on cattle ranches and farms, etc.

  • Thanks for the info. Other have told me it is a nail puller. Still, I find it a little odd the way it is supposed to work. Interesting piece.

  • You put the jaws over the nail head, slam the handle(slide)down wich will dig the jaws in and pry to the side.
