It seems we even have "fact checkers" (FactCheck.org) who are SPINNING tales like the best of Goebbels' students, using words like "doesn't plan to" and "Obama is proposing no ...ban", but when you listen to the ad, it also CLEARLY lists the legislation he supported, backing the statement in the NRA ad.
Yes, the person in the ad uses the words "now I find out", inferring this information has been held out by Major Media sources so the average LEGAL gun owner DOESN'T know the facts! The ad in question, is the NRA's way of YOU finding this out before you vote in November!
And the response from the Obama campaign and DNC? BAN THE AD FROM TV! The real way to approach this, Barack...MAKE YOUR OWN AD CLARIFYING YOUR POSITION, and what you'll do if you are President. Not silencing the voice of voters who come against you and tell the truth. You DID support these legislative efforts. AND, IF PRESIDENT, may find yourself back on the slippery slope against some of those who the Bill of Rights is meant to protect, LEGAL gun owners.
Banning Criminal use is in play, and can be clarified. BUT, in a day and age when waiting on HOLD for a 911 operator and eventual black and white drive-by, can exceed the time necessary for one to have NO OTHER OPTIONS. In inner cities, where crime is rampant, low income residents may not be able to afford anything except low cost handguns OR shotguns to protect their life and property from home invasion style robberies. There is MUCH truth to the phrase, "when guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns." Just look around the world and see the lawlessness that can flourish in those circumstance. Gangs running neighborhoods in LA, Chicago, Detroit, and New York. Warlords throughout the world committing crimes against the people and even genocide in Darfur, Somalia, and Pakistan. Drug lords running the outskirts of cities in Mexico, Columbia, Argentina, and even Spain.
TRUTH BE KNOWN, Obama HAS A HISTORY with the second amendment, and YOU as voters have a RIGHT to know the TRUTH about it!
