most of those having opinions here, dont know shit. I have trained boxing, kick boxing. training traditional and bjj 4 days a week at two different gyms now.
and to them saying they would "just poke an eye or kick some groin, if i went on the ground with a ju jitsu guy"
i can tell you from my experiense, that if you have non or less, experiense in grapling
you wount be able to do shit on ground (exept from getting stuck) if you meet an half god ju jitsu practitioner.

I worked in a place where the people weren't trained martial artists. They were just full of anger. When faced with an angry youth who doesn't give a shit if lives, dies, or gets arrested, martial arts doesn't really help. They'll strike you from behind.

There are actually a number of combative martial arts that are geared solely for one person defending against many such Ba Gua and even Japanese Jujutsu. People are lucky when they can find a good combative school that doesn't withhold information, but they do exist.

There's no such thing as the "ultimate" or "best" when it comes to martial arts. Each style is just as effective as the next, it all depends on the practitioner. A true fighter learns as many forms of martial arts as he can (or at least 1 ground system and one striking) and adapts them to his or her own style. in terms of modern day war... Hand to hand still comes in handy every now and again, but lead projectile/explosives usually work best. ;P

BJJ trains in an Alive manner with it's sparring...100% sparring constantly, lots of pressure..that's where Traditional JuJutsu is wrong..
And as far as my bouncing, I bounced at the Rum Jungle and Murphy's in Florence, SC...tough bars and probably have more real experience than you. I have been training Martial Arts since 1991..starting with Karate, Hapkido..also kickboxed Competitively through my teens.. What ahve you done? Again, tell me where you live and I can probably find a BJJ guy...

yeah your right it does only take seconds, but it doesn't take "bjj" (I can't stop laughing at that) to teach you how to choke someone, and I never said biting, that is just stupid, and the eye gouging isn't ment to win but to give the opening that you can't get from the ring, and how do you use ground grappling in bouncing? that is the fakest answer I have ever heard! you fail and if you want to keep making me laugh go right on ahead, but I'm not wasting one more minute on "blow job judging"LOL
My comments were a little challenging and disrespectful. Jiu Jitsu is a really cool martial art. I love training in it and love to watch MMA. It's the best ring sport going and as I wrote - one on one - nothing better. It's not for the street though as a first option in my opinion. So if I had one option only for the street it wouldn't be BJJ - Traditional Jiu jitsu perhaps.

as a self defence or street fighting method by itself capoeira would be one of my last choices. it is a much better addition rather than a substitute. capoeira is very demanding of balance and coordination. it will greatly aid your other skills, but by itself, i say again it is not the best bang for the buck.
