Review of the Samsung u340 for Cricket Wireless.

The Samsung u340 (refurb) is Cricket Wireless entry level flip phone. It's a very basic phone with extremely basic functionality. It is sold as a refurbished handset and it's typically Cricket's most affordable phone. As we've noted in previous reviews a flip phone is great for protection. You won't pocket dial your friends with this phone. You also don't need to worry about locking the front keypad etc.

Anyhow as a basic phone it works decently well. The speakerphone doesn't get very loud. The phonebook is simple and easy to use. For text messaging you have to press one key at a time or input using T9 predictive text. The front facing camera is virtually unusable with such a low resolution however, you might be able to send the occasional MMS to your friend using it. They might not know what the heck you sent them a picture of. But, hey you can still do it.

Anyhow, if all you need is a basic phone then this might be for you. If you need some more features you might want to spend a few extra bucks and get an upgraded "new" phone.

i had this phone for a year, then i upgraded to the MSGM8...both phones did me well...i dont understand why people talk down on Cricket so much...they're trying their hardest...not all phone companies work too well...i liked Cricket.

I want a txtm8 in my family when my mom,gram,pap,cousin got the samsung u340 i got it like everyone else cuz my moms like its a great phone then she makes everyone get it!then they say u should get it to me then i got stuck with the shittiest phone known to man!and when i got a laptop it was a presario cq60 my gram got it then my whole side of the family got it like u guys know what i mean right? and now i gotta get a new laptop and a phone.

i really like flipphones but i got a blackberry pearl 8100... its not the big deal because i live in mexico and the plans are really limited so i dont use one, u gotta put credit on it so u can use it, so basicly is useless because i cant use the internet, bb msn or any othe application, im just looking for a basic cellphone and besides i like fliphones alot i really like the samsung u340! I SUBBED:D
