  • Hey folks just letting you know that I worked at Sears and today was my last working day but Sunday April 3rd will be the last store closing date! I just found out today while clocking out that they are REOPENING Rolling Acres Mall so that EVERYONE can go back in the mall one last time DURING Sunday's Sears closing! They are only doing it ONCE and on THAT DAY ONLY!!!

  • I remember going there to watch live shows right in the atrium area and I used to love riding in the glass elevator. The mall was first hit in 1991 and in 1997, was officially claimed a dying mall. It still held on through the 90s and early 2000s but when 2004 and 2005 rolled around the mall fell real hard, real fast! Rumor has it, Chapel Hill Mall will be the next mall to suffer this fate.

  • This place was also a BIG part of my life in my teenage years. But after the Malcolm X movie was played, all hell broke loose and there was rioting, ever since that day that mall was doooomed. Then there was a few people robbed and then the rumors started. People were scared and stopped going! Criminals started coming along with the serious crime, and well, that was that! Thanks Guys for putting another good thing out of business.

    Yours truly,

    Tony

  • I remember coming here when I was a kid back in the late mid 80's throughout the 90s, and then a few times in 2006 and 2007. I always loved riding the glass elevator between the two levels, and the huge fountains were probably the best touch this mall could have asked for. Seeing this mall thrive then and it's fallout now, when I heard on the news that the owner decided to lock the doors for the last time, it wasn't a big shock to me. This mall will be missed by many who had fun shopping here.

  • i hate to see it go also, i was around for its better days and when i look at it i can see and remember the past. its sad to see what has become of it.
