umm... i need a bandsaw, some good airbrush, and a lot of good wood. dammit, that's gonna come expensive!

He could do a lot of stuff... but his results speak for themselves. That is pretty much the best resawing I have ever seen. The saw is good and enables him, but his skill allowed him to do that. That was pretty dang cool... and I love that maple :)

You could use a tall featherboard to assist in holding the board even.

Although you are pretty skilled with a band saw, why didn't you just cut the two slimmer pieces first while you had the stability of the main piece then cut the main section in two...

I guess because my focus is on the top pieces and if I screw up I still have some wood to work with. Good idea.

What is the waiting time after the cut has been made to let the wood dry? Is there a standard or does it vary depending on wood and/or weather temp?

It was pretty dry..I'll wait a month or so.
Sometimes you see moisture being pushed out on the cut line just in front of the blade.
I'd say that piece was no more than 6-8% moisture.
