Cancer researchers have identified a gene which is common in children with aggressive brain cancers. They are hoping to develop a drug to target the gene and treat children with the disease. Interview with Paediatric Oncologist Dr David Zeigler. Zeigler says the treatment for children with cancer has improved over time but the children with brain cancer have not had good outcomes. He says the Balnaves Foundation have provided a generous donation to further the research. He says the current treatment is not very effective for aggressive tumours and it has devastating side effects particularly in children. He says the research is being done at the Children's Cancer Institute of Aust and the mission is to reach 100% cure rate.
