The Hubble Space Telescope's Advanced Camera for Surveys takes a closer look at the Virgo cluster located 54 million light-years away. Astronomers are cataloging the numerous globular star clusters, which will help our understanding of how stars and galaxies evolve. This zoom into the Virgo cluster containing 2,000 galaxies, takes us from a ground-based image into Hubble's view of the dominant central giant elliptical galaxy M87 and its multitude of globular star clusters.
