Probably because Sarah Palin is someone that average Americans (working-class folks, not those stuck-up white middle class yuppies) can relate to. Palin is a self-made woman, and very strong. Apparently, her husband (himself a very masculine man) has no trouble seeing her as his equal.

I used to really like her writing but she has become so very boring, predictable and bitter. She has not been able to evolve from her the early 90s thinking; her ideas have become rigid. Camille: please get away from dull political analysis and back to talking about Art and nature - but with an open mind! Alison should grab that boy and run.
