@danpt2000 Junk silver coins are called "junk" silver because they have no collectible value above the bullion value of the silver they contain, whether it be 35% (War nickels), 40% (1965-70 half dollars) or 90% (everything else). Most people collect these because they are inexpensive, easy to get, and have little to no premium.

Why is it called "Junk"? Because it seems to worth something, at least to some people.

Junk silver is a term commonly used in the vested interests of investors of whom usually buy bullion or silver rounds entirely. Occasionally I'll run into investors that will buy $5000 in junk silver at a time in the span of a month to month basis.
