  • All this talk about him developing his walk... I figured, the dude's just walkin'. One foot in front of the other. We all have our own way of walking. He happens to walk like a baddass. However, I'm not sure how you can say this is his walk when he's carrying something, if this is even him. His signature walk was hands free.

  • walk like a woman

  • Duke said he developed his walk himself. But I believe he DID have a little help from Paul and possibly Yakima. Whatever, it sure was a great one! KP

  • It was Paul Fix, whose daughter Marilyn married Harry Carey Jr. Fix was on the Stagecoach set when John Ford razzed Wayne about his walk> Fix told Wayne that he should walk with his feet turned inward as if he was stabbing the ground. Wayne's body weight oroduced a sway that became recognizable as the John Wayne walk. Yakima Canutt was the one to teach Wayne how screen fight and perform that gun twirl when he draws from the holster.

  • haha he walks like obama

  • @sightreading Thanks pal:)

  • to mavivirgie--hmmm...you know i never thought about paul fix....but i DID read in a book that it was yakima canutt...however; your answer is very interesting--and it is possible that his walk was influenced by more than one person

  • @melollylolly I THINK IT WAS PAUL FIX BACK IN 1934
