Drunken Horse Festival

This is a summer festival in Kumamoto City. A procession of horses are literally liquored up and marched in a parade. This horse looks a little unsteady.

Actually, I just learned a little while ago that they don't actually give the horses alcohol anymore. The horses might not like the noise and excitement too much, but they are sober, apparently.

Apparently they give them alcohol because crazy stupid locals slaughter the horses at the end of the parade, claiming they taste better with alcohol in their system. So disturbing what people do in those countries.
