  • Who is this interviewer? He was actually funny. In America we have nobody!

  • Audio transcription: "will you please welcome... Junk Trains!!".

    Amazing... I love this stuff.

  • @spikeyroberto isn't he the dude from the eagle

  • I'm not sure that was the point of the show. Were we supposed to think that he was hopelessly mad, albeit in an entertaining way, and that everybody else was nice and reasonable? I hope not- that would be contrary to the Python spirit. It wasn't as clever a show as Only Fools and Horses or even Some others do 'ave em or Reginald Perrin to be honest but it seems to have fulfilled a need for many people in those dreary mid 70s days. At least Cleese was still making movies with the Pythons.

  • It wasn't just the BBC who weren't keen on Fawlty Towers. At least one of the Pythons (Terry Jones) thought that it sounded a bit ordinary compared to what they'd done on Monty Python. And, to be honest, it was relatively speaking. It was in the tradition of farce really, albeit acted with particular passion by Cleese. But it always troubled me a bit- I agree with Fawlty. I understand his frustration at running a little hotel in Torquay and feeling that he is much better than its limited scope.

  • Jasper! My loyal butler!

  • that's channing tatum lol

  • @danorambo channing tatum

  • It shows what an amazing man John Cleese is that he can go to a hotel be treated badly by some grumpy hotel owner and insted of think 'what a git' he thinks 'what a character' and goes and writes one of the best sitcoms ever made. Legend.
