Eurostar doing 160mph-ish? How noisey is the not too busy road on a sunday? Road provides a continuious drone day and night. More modern high speed trains are even quieter than the now ageing eurostars due to advances in aerodynamic technology. How long is the train audible for, 10 secs? Also how small is the physical footprint of the new line on the envirnoment compared to a road, where is the future? Where is the rest of the world investing their transport future in? HS2 protestors take note!

  • Seems quite slow, takes between 5.25-5.5 seconds to pass, which is 135-145mph by my calculation.

  • @elfabyanos 5.5 is 160mph mark based on 394m long train. Zooming in I think makes things look slower too.

  • I remember travelling along the M20 and seeing one of those trains go past. I then decided that I was going to catch up with the train and race it. I looked down, changed gear, looked up again and the train was gone. Driver must have been clocking at least 165 mph plus, I was doing a straight 100mph at the time. This video is so clear, its like I'm there myself.

  • @TheGalwayFarmer If you think we should have one because the neighbours do, FYI Spain has closed one HSR route with only 9 passengers a day (average), Portugal has suspended construction, France has financial problems and The Netherlands has a line with 15% occupancy. We need to do high speed rail RIGHT and HS2 is so wrong. Google railfuture hs2 consultation

  • Good to see how, sensibly, HS1 runs beside a motorway. Conversely that's not what is proposed for HS2 which is routed through virgin "protected" countryside and single carriageway roads..

  • " where is the future? Where is the rest of the world investing their transport future in? HS2 protestors take note!"

Last time i checked , roads don't have loads of unsightly catenary

  • @srabchun Lol

  • What camera did you use to shoot this video? I saved it to my favorites just because of the picture quality.

  • @SANSPAREIL1977 yeah you're right, I don't know what happened to my maths there :)

  • Can't even hear the train approaching!
