The DETROIT INSTITUTE OF ARTS just got a new sculpture by ALEXANDER CALDER!!! Well it's new to the DIA anyways (it used to live in front of the AT&T building (formerly MICHIGAN BELL) in Detroit). This monumental sculpture titled YOUNG LADY AND HER SUITORS has gone back to its original color (it had been previously re-painted red) and now can be seen on the south lawn of the DIA. The sculpture was installed in May 2008 by PRECISION INSTALLATION SERVICES of Farmington Hills, Michigan (special thanks to Phil, Tom, Mike (crane operator), Jerry, Terry and Tyler!!!). The DIA project leader was Becky Hart with help from John Steele, Terry Birkett and Davin Brainard. More info here: http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080528/FEATURES01/805280355...
UPDATE:
The music WAS Looking at You by MC5 but the dum-dum's at WARNER MUSIC GROUP took it down. I will add something else soon---maybe the A2 version that they don't own...
