October 5th, 2008 at The Irish Fest Center In Milwaukee. Sean Donnelly, Gay McKeon, Tommy Keane, Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh. Description of event --- "Presented by Na Píobairí Uilleann (the association of uilleann pipers based in Dublin, Ireland) PIPERLINK will not only include performances by some of Ireland's leading pipers, but will also give you a chance to interact with the players and the instrument. Following an audio visual introduction and a demonstration to show how the pipes work, eminent folklorist Seán Donnelly will conduct a entertaining talk on the history of the instrument, navigating a clear path through the development of the pipes, their evolution, different styles of piping, the great players and the famous 'piping' tunes."

  • Someone, who shall remain nameless asked me to remove this video. I shall directly quote "

I would be obliged if you would remove the video of the Piperlink concert on October 5th, 2008 at The Irish Fest Center as this type of clip may not do justice to the artists who are trying to make a living as professional musicians." So may I ask anyone viewing this whether you think I am damaging them by sharing this? Is it not publicity for them? Let me know what you think please.

  • @gypsypipergirl tell the man to shush

  • tell that idiot that the whole idea of Irish music is that its shared. that is why they play in in pubs, because its meant to be social. if these people are playing for money they should think again.

  • wow.

sometimes you cant tell if she went down an octave or up!

its not often youtube clips impress you like this.

    thanks

  • the greatfull dead didn't go broke. have any irish trad acts made any wear near as much money as the dead did? they could produce better quality footage and have us subscribe to see it on their web site. i'd rather give them the money than the gas station for the 200 mile drive to see them when they come to the usa in may . its better we arrive with some familiarity with their songs if we get the chance to see them live, or all they end up playing to is a lot of confused faces.

  • I have watched a lot of music on youtube and this lead to the purchase of several albums:Stevie Ray Vaughan, Roy Orbison, Liam O'Flynn, Davy Spillane, Jerry O'Sullivan, LeAnn Rimes, Finbar Furey, Leo Rawsome, Seamus Ennis, Roger Whittaker, James Galway, Cheiftains and Celtic Women, Animusic just to mention a few. I think youtube is a good place for advertising a product, "a try it first approach"

    Al

  • It's that question again. Does youtube act as free advertising for the artist or does it hinder the sale of the artists cd's thus interfering with their income. I'm a professional musician/instrument maker and I can see both sides of the argument.

The question here would be, did you get permission directly from the artists to record them and post the clip here? Its a great clip and I'd hate to see it go but without the artists permission you may have to take it down, unfortunatly.
