Showing the function of the French Mle 1892 8mm lebel Revolver at the range.

This one was made in 1894 and has seen action, it has shrapnel damage in several areas. Still a very tight and solid shooter.

These guns are of the upmost quality.

  • Hello from France man! This revolver is not for 8 mm Lebel.

8mm Lebel=8x50R it's a rifle cartridge (and the first with smokless powder).

This beautifull revolver is for 8x27R.Look here for more infos : /armesfrancaises.free.fr/revolver%20Mle%201892.html

Take care and have good times with this beauty.

  • @rgiovanni02 Yes I am aware that 8mm lebel is a rifle cartridge but here in north america the revolver cartridge is just called "8mm lebel Revolver".

While not correct, that is the term used by Canadians and Americans. Thanks for the link, take care!.

  • I have not Fired Factory ammo through this gun, Fiocchi loads are expensive, hard to find and loaded quite stout "880 fps" with a steel jacket bullet. Kinda hard on 120 year old barrels...

I run 32 20 cut down brass with a well Lubed Lead cast .323 110gr bullet and anywhere from 3 to 3.3 Grains of Unqiue Smokeless, "relatively mild load around 680-720fps"

You can run them beyond 3.5 grains but I do not wish to batter this old beautiful gun, it has more than paid its dues in war.

    Take Care!.

  • This gun is all original except the grips, but I still have the original grips as well. They were switched out because of shrapnel damage.

This gun saw combat, most likely ww1 and it has several high velocity pock marks throughout. Nothing that affects it structurally however, just adds some true character.

It is a very tight gun in general, locks up like a vault and has no cylinder end shape, the rifling is also very pronounced and with no pitting.
