Harry Wappler was born December 21, 1936 and left this world to be with his Lord on April 21, 2010.
I had the privilege of working with Harry's in the KIRO 7 weather department from 1987 to 1995, and when he wasn't there, I had the honor of filling his shoes, and they were big shoes to fill. LITERALLY!
I posted this clip so very long ago, as a happy salute to my dear friend. Harry never saw this on YT,because he didn't own a computer, nor did he want to. As many of my KIRO colleagues know, Harry didn't get along well with computers. But Harry got quite a chuckle, knowing how many more people were seeing his video, some for the first time ever. Harry loved sharing this clip whenever he could. He was the first to love a good laugh. It is the most sought after blooper on KIRO TV, when JP Patches tried to tie Harry Wappler's shoelaces together while he was doing weather. Introduced by Gary Justice & Susan Hutchison along side Harry after his evening weather-cast in 1991. The clip is from 1975.
God Bless my dear friend.

  • Im confussed... it says this clip is from 1975 but it also says, "Introduced by Gary Justice Susan Hutchison and Harry after a weathercast in 1991." hows that possible?

  • @odeswx "THE CLIP" refers to the video that the three of them introduced after Harry's weathercast in 1991.

  • Harry Wappler, is he the father of Andy Wappler?

  • Yes Harry is Andy's dad.

  • Thanks for the info. BTW, how did you know Harry Wappler is Andy's dad? Also, we Canadaian know KIRO-TV is seen all over Canada via either digital cable or satellite, as are at least four other Seattle stations.

  • I did morning weather at KIRO and also was Harry's back-up on evenings from 1987 to 1995. That was the year Andy was brought on board to join the weather team. I then worked along side Harry in the evenings for 6 months, producing his weathercasts and doing the 11 pm weather myself before I left KIRO-TV for Albuquerque. I know Andy and Harry. Both are fine people, and friends. BTW: I too am a Canadian, from T.O.

  • I Moved to Los Angeles in 97, I Never Knew about this & Its Sad to hear he's Gone, But He'll never be gone, the Human Mind & our Memories Of Famous people in TV, Local & abroad, Is The Stongest Trait that we all have, Although he did the weather, I Feel He Just Did it Best, He Will Be missed! As Young as I Am I Do Remember since I was as young as 4 years Old in 74, or later, God Bless Harry!

  • He was my favorite weatherman to watch. RIP Harry.

  • @rice1056 I didn't know that.

  • @rice1056 Thanks again for the info.

  • Aww, I didn't know Harry Wappler died. I've lived away from my home state of Wington for many years, so I didn't hear anything about it. We always watched him on Kiro 7 when I was growing up. He will be missed.

  • Harry Wappler was the best. You don't see too many like him doing the weather anymore. A very special man but it is a different time I guess these days. Here's hoping his son Andy makes a return some day back to Seattle.

  • RIP Harry.... you & J.P Patches rock !!!!!

  • Harry you are the man. I am a Seattle Native I grew up watching you every evening. Felt like you were part of our family . We are going to miss you. RIP
