My XDA Exec (aka imate JasJar) developed this screen issue switching into "laptop" mode. The rotate hinge was never forced, I woke up one morning and was greeted by the white screen. I suspect its a loose connection or ribbon issue, though I can't explain how it suddenly occured. The screen itself is fine as you can see in the video, I've used the D-pad in "laptop mode" with the white screen, to navigate to the inbox and then, when I rotate the screen back towards portrait, there's the inbox, so obviously the screen seems fine, but connections... in bits.
It's still fully functional in all respects while in portrait mode.
Its been sitting in a drawer since last November as I have had no time to get it fixed. Any suggestions for replacement parts cheap would be greatly appreciated! It's not in warranty. I bought it second-hand (virtually new), it was three wks old when I bought it and I used it for about 3 more weeks until this fault mysteriously occured one morning. I called some repair shops in the UK which quoted me min £100 stg to fix it and a repair shop in Dublin quoted me similar in euros! This seems really excessive for what seems like a small problem.
Could I fix it myself? Solder something? Whatever, as I said its not in warranty so I'm willing to try anything at this point!
Cheers in advance for any assistance.
wab.

  • y are u so worreid about a little prob like that its not that bad

  • Actually guys i think this is a colour transfer wire project, open the screen up so you dont need to dismantle the hinge or anything just take the back off, and there should be 2 small wires, red and yellow prehaps (fixed mine a few years back) and there should be a little box with these wires connected, just push them in nice and firm as they tend to come loose quite frequently.

    TR.

  • i have similer problem with my XDA, can you help me fixing this issue. kind regards

  • Dude your video is making me sick!!

  • hi

i want to buy a new phone, and my 2 choices are o2 flame and o2 exec, i think there both great phones so im not sure what to choose. could someone help thanks

  • I've had that telephone for over a year...amazing thing....

  • It seems to me that this unit has it sensor knocked out of place a little bit. It reads perfectly, but when you turned it beyond a certain point, the sensor blanked because it reads it as you turning the screen more than the intended 180 degree pivot.

  • i have one of these phones they are great

  • 02 Sell it in their gadgets section, with a contract, you'll get some cash knocked off :) If not? Ebay!

This phone is a dream, once you get rid of 02's own software!

  • e-bay
