Should of been Ali MacGraws

@mirrenfan2 That is so funny. Loved the snappy dialogue between Maggie Smith and Michael Caine in that movie. They were the ONLY reason to sit through it.

I'm so pleased to see so many people remember Glenda Jackson. One of the greatest actresses of all time, in my opinion.
-
I love her so much after I've admire Justine Thornton in acting

If only Glenda's definitive Elizabeth I had been an epic movie, she could count THREE leading actress Oscars on her mantle!!! As such, she had to play second fiddle to Redgrave in Mary Queen of Scots, even though she stole the movie out from under her! Glenda did justice to DH Lawrence's Gudrun Brangwen - the personification of a modernist woman.

Glenda has made only one Oscar appearance. Ever. And that will more than likely be her sole appearance. Like Monroe, Dietrich, Hepburn, Allen, and a few others she is in good company.
As for Jane Alexander looking like a slob?? Jane is a beautiful woman who happened to find a niche in slovenly low class types. The well bred (her father was in nuclear medicine) Jane is rarely given a chance to show her true beauty.

It's weird to see Jane Alexander all glammed up, she's usually kind of a slob.

@jealousofmypuddin It would depend if she could get time off for being an MP

The Academy should invite Ms. Jackson to present Best Picture next year!
"Glenda Jackson never comes and she's nominated every goddamn year" - Maggie Smith in "California Suite". Love that line!

What makes Glenda Jackson a "true professional" is that she was 100% committed to her craft and valued hard work too much to bask in the glow of celebrity. Now, she expresses that same commitment into being a member of Parliament and doing a damn well good job of it!
