I would grab a rock if there is one and bust the attackers ass! that would give me time to run! also sand is very effective in the eyes,cheers!

sorry guys there is no point jabbing him in this way, go for his eyes first then temple & then the neck, if he cant see you then he cant stab or slash you, its that simple, dont waste your time imitating this fool, strike hard then retreat, remember when you control the head you control the body.

This video is misguided at best, irresponsible at worst. I'm always wary of vids showing knife attacks because 99.9% of them are completely unrealistic (like this one!)-
it's a really stupid idea to suggest an untrained person could take on a knife attacker with a pen: If you're a trained martial artist you won't need the video, if you're untrained either use a CCW, run, or give them what they want (as awful as that may be, it's just not worth getting slashed up)

As some other poster said here, adrenaline can do funny things to people. Most will not respond rationally- do what your nervous system is telling you and CHEESE IT!
Just one strike from that knife could kill. Even the best martial artists have trouble against knives in realistic situations (my instructor was easily drawn on when he let me attack him with a sharpie, and I'm a beginner).
