My pretty well trained dog, Roman. I feel like showing him off to you. He's always ready to preform tricks! (especially with a little...extra motivation, haha)
Roman is a 9 or 10 year old all-black Rottweiler/Labrador mix, weighing in at a whopping 140 pounds.
(yes, he is overweight, and I realize that giving him treats like I did on this video doesn't help...but trust me, he doesn't get them often. The reason he's so overweight isn't because of treats or over feeding; it is because we can't take him for walks or get him excited or playful...he's epileptic, and has a seizure every time he gets too excited, or too hot. Every time you take him up the driveway to go on a walk, he has a seizure. Not to mention he's old, and has arthritis in his left shoulder where it was pinched by a car tire.)
He knows other tricks like "back" (move backwards and get out of your way), "stay", "whose there" (he'll look for any 'intruders' in the yard, and bark if he finds anyone, or if you keep asking him whose there), "drop it" (drop whatever he is holding in his mouth), "come", and yeah...haha.
Overall, he's a very obedient dog, walks well on a leash, and usually impresses people. He's VERY well behaved with a very gentle and kind disposition. We can't even get him to pop a balloon! Having the rott. in him does make him a bit of a guard dog, but his bark is all you'll have to worry about (well, he does step on your feet VERY often, and if he's happy you need to look out and make sure you don't get whacked by his tail...he also leans against people if they're petting him just right).
We got him from a friend when her dog had an accidental litter with a wandering labrador. ALWAYS SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS!! While I'm glad that I have Roman, and am fortunate that he doesn't have many inherited health defects, I am not very satisfied with how we got him. The owners had to try very hard to find homes for all of the puppies, and had to learn a lot about what to do for a pregnant/birthing dog. They weren't even able to find a home for all of the dogs, and the runt (and only female of the litter) went missing and was never found. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY, SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS!!
Also, when looking for a new furry, feathered, or scaled friend, visit your local shelters and animal rescues. There's countless animals out there who have nothing wrong with them, and just need someone to take them in and love them. As a shelter volunteer, trust me, I've seen plenty of wonderful animals, who were just in the shelter because of their owner's negligence or unfortunate times.
My Weimeraner is named Roman toooo!!!! He's not well trained tho... LOL OMFG as Im watching this when you said 'sit' he did!!!!! I call him Romey all the time too!!! Yaaay!!!! Best of wishes with your Roman - Mine is 'my dog child' :-) Have a great day!
