WOw, a gastroc release.......never heard of that. Aren't you jumping the gun a little here ? why not fix the weaknesses and restore the range. Releasing a tissue via surgery doesnt mean you have resolved the underlying problem.
First of all, THANK YOU for your service in protecting our freedom. Guys like you are the reason we have the freedom we do, so thank you.
As for your condition. without examining you we are at a bit of a loss. One of our youtube videos is on some initial exercises. I am not prescribing them here because without examination and determination of your primary causal issues i could prescribe somethign wrong. Watch the clip and drop us a line.
Excellent guys. For sometime I have been trying to understand why my foot pronates and why I now have periostitis. I have been stretching my calf muscles everyday but I don't seem to be getting any relief. As soon as I go back to the gym and use the cross trainer or rowing machine the pain comes back with a vengeance. All I needed was for someone to explain to me the biomechanics and the mechanism of injury and you have certainly done that. It looks like I’m going to need a gastroc release
Gait guys - please start reading from the bottom post up before continuing with this post. I am still very keen and very green and this has really halted my progression and set me back big time. Fingers crossed with your help and advice I can get back to full operational fitness and do the job I joined up to do. Take care Guys
From everything that I have been told by different "specialists" I was left in a state of real confusion and being asked by my heirarchy what my condition is and trying to explain it has been a real problem for me. This has really cleared the fuzziness! Is there anything I can do to get my foot and lower leg mechanics back to the state they were before? Is there hope for me or is an osteotomy destined in my future? Any help you can give would be greatly and sincerely appreciated!
Is there any advice that you have for me as you clearly are the experts? I currently have orthotics to aid in the RoM increase in the 1st MPJ but that collapsing feeling is still there during running or tabbing with heavy wieght and quick pace. Both of these problems have led to over developed tibialis anterior muscles and strangely developed calfs. I now understand this to be the rocker ankle problem which I never knew or been told before even by numerous podiatrists!
It seems that alot of my medical officers do not understand in detail about this condition and I am facing a medical board pretty soon which will determine the outcome of my career. I am still very keen on staying in the Army and I really want to sort my condition out with or preferably without surgery. I used to be an excellent runner and now I am currently downgraded. From your videos I am not sure which of the 2 I have, either tightness or shortness but I definitely must have one of them.
Oh my God, you have helped me understand so much about my condition in the 2x3minutes+ videos than anyone has in the years that I have had this condition! Including professionals. Thank you so much!
I am in the British Army and I have a problem with Hallux Limitus which is imparing me from running any further than 2-3 miles. This is not good in the Army as you can imagine! I have had numerous diagnoses of what you have said like compartments, plantar fasciitis and shin splints.
