Last Major Aircraft Movement to take place at Brooklands after 90 years of aviation

Read This Please:-

This was the last Major Aircraft movement to take place on the Brooklands Airfield since it opened in 1908 and it took place on the 29th May 2004. The last aircraft to move was interestingly the last surviving Vickers Vanguard / Merchantman call sign G-APEP left in the world.

The runway has now become part of Mercedes Benz World and after this event it would not see any major aircraft movements until 2009, when the Brooklands Vimey would land on the MBW site and have to be moved by road into the Museum site.

You can visit both of this aircraft and many others, at Brooklands Museum.

Sadly Ron passed away a few months after the video was produced. He had been a first rate guy and one of the Museums strongest allies in those early difficult years

Just to make you all jealous, I was a dual type rated engineer at Air Bridge Carriers/Hunting Cargo at EMA on both the Merchantman and Electra. Very happy days, some of them extremely long and the second best job in the world. Pity they are all gone, and I've retired.
