Service Canada EI phone phishing from Edmonton Alberta 7804950118?

Caller claims to be from Service Canada. She asks for sin numbers as well as mailing address, claiming that mail was returned as undeliverable
I don't know if this was a scammer or if it was SC.. Leaves a phone number to call, (780) 495-0118 / 7804950118 780 495 0118 780-495-0118, and leave the information on a message machine.
We inquired at ServiceCanada, a day later got a callback from a someone from SC? She said it was their number. However she couldn't answer why they had returned letters, as our address on file was correct, and couldn't explain why an SC employee would be calling 8PM Fri nite, and threatening to close the claim if we didn't call back with the SIN and Addy info by monday. Government never asks for a SIN by telephone???
who said that it was in fact a SC number. If anyone recognizes the voice, pls email me.


-advice is to never give your sin number online, as no government agency should ask for it.
I checked the Service Canada info online and was correct address.

I reported this to ServiceCanada. They did an investigation and concluded that the phone call was from their office.

I think they will never phone at all, they send you a letter, and also she was thinking in betwen what 2 say, so dont phone back.

Canada Gc would NEVER call at 8PM. they all got home 4 hours earlier. scam 4 sure.

SC would not be calling at 830 pm - and yes , do not give any info over the phone - stop payment can easily be dealt if ever a legitimate caller.
