The SSC Ultimate Aero an American-built mid-engine sports car by Shelby SuperCars. Its higher-performance limited production version, the SSC Ultimate Aero TT, is currently the fastest production car in the world, with a fastest recorded speed of 413 km/h (257 mph). This speed was reportedly achieved during tests on September 13, 2007 in West Richland, Washington, United States and verified by Guinness World Records on October 9, 2007.

The Aero and the Shelby SuperCars company are the brainchildren of Jerod Shelby, who spent over seven years designing the car. Although the basic Aero model is no longer produced, the Ultimate Aero is still in production with an MSRP of around $620,000. The Aero is the fastest car in the world

  • "americans will never..." oh my god please stfu. if you can not compare it to the veyron then why did you even mention it. and, contrary to what you think, it was NOT as easy as throwing a v8 with two big turbos in a body. shelby has top quality engineers who take great pride in what they do, and for a 650k price tag, as opposed to the 1.4m of the veyron, you cannot beat that. stop hating. its a badass car. haters gonna hate.

  • god that v8.....its hard to believe a super car like that has a motor that sounds so good, they usualy have motors that sound like their screaming for dear life, as if its gonna break, but not this motor, it has the noise of a bad ass cat growling at you, about to kill anything in its path, and thats basically what it is

  • finally a car that is better thsn the veyron speed wise. the veyron is ugly

  • Both cars are great as we all kno but my question is who would win in a race? But not just any race, I'm talkin bout 1 between a Macleren-f1a Shelby Ultimate aero- Bugiti ss and the Hennessy Vennom Gt. Where is BESTMOTORING when u need them.

  • @killhazardx Amen to that!!!

  • i have no reason to jump on any ship as i am german myself, but those unfounded hater comments are mostly based on anything else but facts and well grounded knowledge, see how those discussions always end up in nationalistic arguments about what nation invented what and who did what, when we should enjoy the things for what they are based on our personal preferences and most of all GIVE CREDIT WHERE IT IS DUE! and SSC truly deserves credit for teasing the goliath that is VAG, and i am german !

  • like i have said quite many times now, those who bitch about how the veyron was the more "sophisticated engineered and refined car" well, both cars have completely different philosophies to them, as well as it`s already been said, completely different funds to take resources from. big difference! and those who think that they veyron was more reliable on long-lasting, you clearly need to study some history about american heavy duty V8s and the poor record of many over-engineered euro-engines !

  • @bphockey23 hey..may i just add that ive just read the topgear supercar special magazine featuring the new aero ssc and i take back most of the things i said about it..i genuinely believe its an awesome machine now..it looks so much better than the old ssc and i hope it does well.the fact most of the stuff is bespoke now makes the new ssc a true contender.maybe i shouldn't be so quick to make judgements without taking a more detailed look at what im criticizing :/

  • @bphockey23 the combustion engine that burned the fuel we use today was invented in Britain..the Netherlands combustion engine burned gunpowder that wasn't practical thus the modern combustion engine we use today came from Britain..not exactly a failure then.but yea you are right.. Britain and america does have a major part to play in the evolution of the modern world.i just don't agree on half arsed cars going up against premium machines.

  • @megabowzer100 English is a hodge podge of other languages, they stole from the French, Latin, Spanish and many other languages. The first combustion engine was made in the Netherlands, so failure on that one. We could go back and forth about this forever, but without the existence of either of the two countries, the world would be quite a bit different today.

  • @bphockey23 what have the brits done,,,hahaha.we are the inventors of (nearly)everything plus we had the biggest empire..also dont forget which language your speaking..ENGLISH.what a stupid fkin question :-/ who invented the combustion engine,,THE BRITS.who invented the disk brake,,THE BRITS.who invented the jet engine,,THE BRITS..do your research before posting stupid answers cause you just look like an idiot
