Union Pacific Railroad Mineola Subdivision
Mesquite, TX
Today we see three trains on the ex-T&P corridor in Mesquite. The first two trains were very short, with the first train being a local MOW train, and the second being perhaps the shortest intermodal train I have ever seen. We wrap up with a good-length manifest train headed up by NS power which treats us with a nice K5LA horn.
Train 1: Eastbound Local
Time: 3:43 PM CST
Location: Mesquite, TX @ Florence St
Motive Power: UP 3808 (SD70M)
Comments: The crossing lights appear to strobe, but it's just the camera's image processing. The lights don't actually strobe as they appear to in the video.
Train 2: Short Eastbound Intermodal
Time: 4:15 PM CST
Location: Mesquite, TX @ Galloway Ave
Motive Power: UP 8656 (SD70ACe), UP 8481 (SD70ACe) & UP 3811 (SD70M)
Comments: No. 8656 had a sick horn. Ditto above on the crossing light "strobing" effect.
Train 3: Eastbound Manifest
Time: 4:43 PM CST
Location: Mesquite, TX @ Galloway Ave
Motive Power: NS 9626 (C40-9W) & UP 7908 (ES44AC)
Comments: Good K5LA on No. 9626.
@UPDetector Thanks. Yeah, that horn sounded like it could use a good cleaning.
