@intoeurochicks Yes, there should be some policy, but China's isn't it. Look at the problems it's causing. And I would rather deal with those illegal immigrants than force mothers to kill their children just so they aren't arrested. And yes, while the preference for males is more of a cultural thing, China's model has shown what happens when you try to solve all of your problems with one policy.

Most of these couples in China who wants a boy instead of girl, because its about "Face", (family name) and they think if they have a girl she will be married off to the other family and be forgotten. Those traditional values have got to go (rural). Out dated for the 21st century. China is creating a society of self-destructive male "Hooligans". Sodom & Gomorrah in the making.

If I were Chinese, I would like to have a daughter. It would be soooo much easier to find her a spouse, and I'd be helping my country. I'm not saying I wouldn't love a baby boy as much as a girl, though.
