The Antarctica of Penguins was created from the expedition photos of Chinstrap, Gentoo, Adelie and Emperor penguins in their natural habitat of Antarctica by Drs. Charles and Elizabeth Schmitz. As part of their research study, In Search of Great Marriages Around the World, the Doctors traveled aboard the National Geographic Explorer to Antarctica. Following this expedition, Drs. Charles and Elizabeth Schmitz became the first marriage experts and researchers to have interviewed successfully married couples in 47 countries on all seven of the world's continents.
